Tutor duties and responsibilities

Tutors are responsible for leading one-on-one or small group tutorials that cater to the needs and goals of their students.

· Protected content classroom or curricula topics and assignments

· Protected content students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks.

· Protected content with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the tutorial.

· Protected content skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, notetaking skills and approaches to answering test questions.

· Protected content academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing technique.

· Protected content and distributing teaching materials to supplement classroom lessons, including study guides.

· Protected content mock exams to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation.

· Protected content students with positive and constructive feedback.

· Protected content feedback on progress to students’ parents/guardians and staff where appropriate

Tutor skills and qualifications

· Protected content knowledge of a specific academic subject or expertise in test preparation.

· Protected content verbal and written communication skills in English to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions and deliver feedback.

· Protected content to motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies.

· Protected content and flexibility in order to personalize their learning approach for individual students.

· Protected content and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance

· Protected content demonstrated excellence in the academic subject they plan to tutor in or on the test they are helping students prepare for.

· Protected content degree and PGCE preferred.
