Will Britain impose direct rule? (Cayman Islands)

Following the arrest of our Premier earlier this week, direct rule from London is a clear option. His so-called Party (the UDP) was basically a one-man band, and with the "one man" now seriously handicapped, the Party is at a loss what to do for the best. The next elections are not due for another five months; Britain has just finished its two-years direct-rule of the Turks & Caicos Islands; and Cayman's government finances are in a shambles. This would be a convenient and appropriate time to suspend Cayman's Constitution and rule by decree for a while.

For background to the present crisis, as well as for future commentaries, my personal blog is probably as good a place as any to go to.
