Living in Cedar Rapids

The City of Five Seasons, as Cedar Rapids is often affectionately nicknamed, is the second largest city in Iowa. The city is currently experiencing a boom in creative wealth and development, so living in Cedar Rapids should be a rewarding and exciting experience for any expatriate. If you're interested in sports, then you should visit the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, to enjoy a game of the local obsession - ice hockey. If that's not your kind of thing, and you're much more interested in learning about the history of the city, then the Brucemore estate might be a little more up your street, with its formal gardens, park, woodland and stunning old architecture. If you're having trouble settling in to life in Cedar Rapids as an expatriate, then you should look to InterNations for help. The online community will always be willing to point you in the right direction, and answer any questions that you might have about living abroad.

Working in Cedar Rapids

One of the main reason that a lot of expatriates make the move overseas, is because they've been offered a pay raise if they do so, or they'll receive some sort of job promotion or reward on their return. If you're considering working in Cedar Rapids, it might be for this reason, or it could be that you want a fresh start somewhere new. Regardless of your situation, InterNations can take the pressure of settling in. The Expat Magazine, in particular, has articles on moving and living abroad, with tips on how to get comfortable as soon as possible. There are quite a few hurdles to jump through once you've decided you're working in Cedar Rapids, and InterNations, along with its community of like-minded expats that has built up over the years, is there to make your transition as a smooth as possible.
