Thinking of moving to Chennai

Hi all, I've been offered work in Chennai and I'm doing some research into (cheap) safe accomodation, health/travel insurance and the expat community. I've visited for a few months but stayed on the outskirts where there seemed to be no expat community - having found this forum I see that there are some in the city! I was wondering how you have all found living in Chennai, have you made friends, is accomodation easy to find, etc?
