Home-Schooling/un-Schooling/Life Learning HangDong (Chiang Mai)
Tired of the Schooling Options in Chiang Mai? (YOU ARE NOT ALONE)
“Creativity is as important as literacy.” ― Ken Robinson

*No religious foundation to program; we welcome, respect and explore any and all ways of being.
The level of independence of study and interest-driven curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices at Dreams Come True increases considerably during the transition from primary to secondary and year to year in the secondary program with college or a professional life aimed at happiness and self-sustainability and even prosperity. Our teen program designs and develops its curriculum with each respective student's passions and talents at the center and in conjunction with the student and their families.
We are looking for families in Chiang Mai who may be interested homeschooling, un-schooling, and whole-life educating/nurturing, their children.
For our Hang-Dong location, the teen program (secondary) is full. We are seeking 4 to 6 more children to join the primary program.
We offer a homeschooling environment that is extremely rich in activity: art, music, trips/travel, helping others, gardening, working with animals and the earth, cooking, playing and fun, life-learning, outdoor education and so much more… Let’s get our children together, have fun and nurture their hearts and minds with fun and love.
The homeschooling program in general: English as language of instruction, Thai language instruction connected to content in units of inquiry, in-house mother tongue support and home-support in mother-tongue maintenance and development, trans-disciplinary, inquiry-based, child-centered, whole-life-learning, interest-driven (please read the book, "The Element" by Ken Robinson) and I promise you the best possible program based on current research and practice (contact me and let’s talk). We have a highly qualified (Masters Degree in International Curriculum & Instruction from George Mason University, IB Educator's Certificate, Fully Certified and much more) and experienced group of educators working on this project…
We have an excellent music department (piano, guitar, ukulele, harmonica, and we will be including bass and some drums and whatever else evolves). We enthusiastically encourage all children and teens to engage a musical instrument; however, this is by no means mandatory.
We have a well rounded program with academic emphasis on reading and writing and a general emphasis on whole-life learning largely driven by student interest (trans-disciplinary curriculum, inquiry for instruction and differentiated assessments). We will teach very little abstract math in the elementary program (please see Finland’s approach); however, math will be taught daily via activities like cooking, gardening, making things, etc.
We have a teen-education option that functions in a similar way; however, this program is more individualized and allows even more freedom to follow ones dreams. We will use outside resources to bring whatever math and science a student requires to make their dreams come true or to prepare for SAT or other university, entrance testing.
We plan a very exciting learning community (school but NOT like school) where all children may thrive; we aim to help children to discover and nurture what Ken Robinson refers to as their element, and to learn about life, humanity and the universe all in a kind/caring and supportive atmosphere.
“The element refers to the experience of personal talent meeting personal passion.” –Ken Robinson
We are going to run the program with some animals and a garden, dance, drama, large classroom (NOT traditional classrooms), lots of artwork, music studio (jam space with instruments), fields of green for play, plenty of nature to nurture accordingly, huge kitchen and whatever else evolves along the way.
Please email me if you are interested, know someone who may be interested or just want to talk about homeschooling, un-schooling, whole-life learning, international education (mixed cultures), emotional quotient, or education in general.
