Travelling to Moldova in June (Chisinau)

Hello, I am currently in Bucharest and Im planning to visit Moldova in about 2 weeks with my brother and 2 romanian friends. I got interested by the low level of tourism and the particular political situation of the country, and I would like to visit Transnistria as well by car. Is it unsafe in any way to do so? Some romanian friends told me it's dangerous to go there.

Also if anyone would be so kind to show us around or have a coffee to share impressions, it would be nice to meet local people as well.
