Chuncheon, the capital city of the Gangwon Province, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Known colloquially as the city of festivals (no prizes for guessing why), Chuncheon is very famous amongst tourists not only because it was featured in the popular Korean drama, Winter Sonata. Living in Chuncheon, you can experience the area's small river islands. One of the islands, Namiseom, is a favorite amongst the romantic types. The mythical Cheongpyeongsa temple in Chuncheon-si is a stunning architectural marvel, with its three stories made completely out of stone.
