My name is Kathleen Renish and I'm a member in Cologne. I have been performing my one-woman show, "A Lost American in Germany" since last November in Cologne, Gelsenkirchen, NYC and outside of Phila. Von wegen, man kann sich über die Amis nur wundern. Schon mal daran gedacht, was ihnen wohl so über Deutschland durch den Kopf schießt. Die charmante Amerikanerin Kathy erzählt mit ihrem Programm „A lost American in Germany“ ihre Lebensgeschichte samt allen Missgeschicken im fremden Land. Sie ließ ihre etwas verrückte und strengkatholische Familie in Pennsylvania zurück und kam Protected content einer Musical-Truppe nach Deutschland. Sie blieb und lebt immer noch in Köln, obwohl sie eine klare Meinung zur deutschen TV-Polizei und zum Putzwahn hat.

She left behind her slightly quirky and very catholic family in Pennsylvania and came to Germany as a member of a musical ensemble in Protected content . Kathleen still lives in Cologne, despite having her very own views about the German "TV police" and the ubiquitous German cleaning frenzy.Her show is full of fun and song, and Ms. Renish explains how she became “Ge-merican” and why she totally agrees when someone says: "Deutsche Sprache – schwere Sprache“ (German language – difficult language).Kathleen Renish’s life story is - authentic, moving, inspiring and very funny.

With stage magic and personal charm she reveals the absurd and the hilarious aspects of culture clash. Having lived in Germany myself I love being able to laugh at what at times had been quite difficult. The story is partly carried through Kathleen's accomplished and warm hearted singing. I feel like more Germans and Americans need to see this show.
