Closest decent skiing resort (from Koln) (Cologne)

Hi everybody,
can anyone suggest me which is the closest place for skiing from Cologne
I've been told about Winterberg, but it really looks veeeeery small (of course I am not looking for the Alpls here..;)
anyone has been there and can give me some insight? Any other place?
