Hey Guys need advice (Colombo)

Hi All,
visiting Srilanka for the first time, booked in a resort in Bentota 13th to 15th Feb...but would be arriving in Colombo on the 12th Feb morning ...can anyone recommend a decent clean accommodation....was planning to book cinnamon or hilton...but doesn't make any sense as its just a matter of a night..so something cozy and economical would work better...
Also i hear there are a lot of great places to shop for international brands ( garments)
any recommendations?..( also are these original brand surplus stuff or is it copies?)
