Move to Sri Lanka / Buying house (Colombo)

Hello,
I am interested to go there for living. I would like to buy a house/apartment but as I know it is impossible because law is against buying estates by foreigners. I am considering few more options like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia.
May someone help me or give me just an advice?
