Tea plantations and Spices gardens in Sri Lanka (Colombo)

Dear Sri Lanka Internations members,

I am travelling next month to Sri Lanka and I would like to make the most out of my trip. Being passionate about tea and all kind of spices, my main objective is to discover plantations and gardens in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Matale and so on. I am looking for something that goes beyond simple tourism. Ideally I would like to meet locals, visit plantations/gardens, attend to tea ceremony and understand rituals and beliefs behind the long history of spices in Sri Lanka.

I would be grateful if you could give me some tips, addresses, or maybe take me around if your schedule allows it.
