Tourist Visa Extension (Colombo)

Hey All!

Anyone familiar with the process of extending your Tourist Visit Visa, I know its possible to extend up to a year, is this still correct? I've checked out the website but want to make sure that when I go to the Dept. of Immigration I have all the necessary documents. It refers to finances to ensure enough money will abroad; is this proved with overseas bank statements or cash (Rps) in hand? How long does it take and what time should I reach there?

In addition, anyone know if its possible to open a bank account at HSBC without having a residency visa? I already have HSBC accounts worldwide.
