New to Dakar

Hey all,

Have a new and exciting job opportunity that requires me to move from New York City to Dakar. I had the opportunity to visit the country last week for a short stint, but unfortunately spent most of my time in meetings and hotels! I was hoping to get a feel for Dakar from some ex-pats Is it safe? Can you walk around at night freely? Are there areas to avoid? Any advice is much much appreciated!
