Bridging the lines - art exhibition (Dar es Salaam)

Bridging the lines - Art by Refugee and Tanzanian children. Exhibition at Ujamaa Art Gallery, Dar es Salaam until 17 March.

UNHCR Tanzania and Ujamaa Art Gallery have the pleasure to invite you to an art exhibition featuring artworks from Refugee and Tanzanian children living in the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp and surrounding local communities in Kigoma Region. The children had ...a chance to exp...loit their talents during a three days workshop during which they were enabled by professional artists to learn, practice and produce art. While many kids have depicted what they see around them, some have also looked back into the past when they had to flee civil war in Congo. The children opened their hearts, lives and dreams on canvas and demonstrated that art has the power to connect people.
The generous talents of the children have left the profound impression that their gifts deserve to be cultivated further. All funds generated from the sale of the artworks and publications such as colouring books and post cards will go towards the procurement of art equipment and educational material for schools in the Nyarugusu camp and the adjacent host communities.
The initiative is the first of its kind to be carried out by UNHCR in the Nyarugusu Camp which was opened in Protected content . The camp currently hosts about 61,800
