Internship in Dhaka

Hi!
I'm from Spain, recently I've been offered an internship between july and september to work in Uttara.
Accommodation will be arranged by students from the institute, probably around Uttara as well.
I am very open minded and would like to have a whole new experience, but to tell the truth, I'm quite skeptical about this internship, for everything that I've been able to read about Dhaka, and Bangladesh in general, isn't very attractive.However I believe that there must be some good things as well.

I have done a little bit of research and I know that the best places to live for an expat, would be Gulshan or Baridhara.How long does it take going from Gulshan to Uttara? since I'm going in monsoon season, Is it safe living in Uttara? Is it easy to find an accommodation with air conditioning and good wifi connection?

What do you think? What are your experiences living there?

Any advice would be helpful.
