Can I wear sandals (Doha)

Hi,
As a western woman about to take up a position in Doha., I am wondering if it is acceptable to wear open toed shoes (ie smart sandals) for work?
And am I able to wear flip flops for casual?
Having seen the summer temperature.....wondering how else to cope....
