Medical issues ...insurance etc (Doha)

I'm just picking people's brains who are already in Qatar. I used to live in Abu Dhabi where medical insurance is compulsory . We are currently back I. TheUK for a bit and was told that the rules are different in Qatar and they don't have to provide your whole family with medical insurance thus that means my daughter and myself may not even get any cover and if we did buy it ourselves it would be super expensive . Thus in short I'd never be able to live I. The gulf again since most companies are now offering only single packages not the whole family thing . My husband was worried even if we did get insurance provided it wouldn't be enough for our issues . Can any one shed any light on this for me ? Was this person talking garbage or is it true?
