Visiting Qatar - tips/advice/suggestions :) (Doha)

I am planning have a short visit Protected content to Qatar in October on my way to Oman. In particular I am interested in exploring local culture, people and practice Arabic language. Could you, please, suggest as to what to visit/do/where to stay and may be also what is better to avoid? Also would be happy to meet locals!
