Working in Qatar with my current US company (Doha)

So I am relocating to Doha in August and will be sponsored by my wife who has the job so I cannot work unless she waives her sponsorship to me.

I currently work predominantly on-line, servicing accounts with little to no face to face contact and was wondering if anyone still works and gets paid by their existing offshore company - or if it's even legal to do this in Qatar while under sponsorship.
