LOOKING TO MOVE TO THE DR. HELP!!!! ? (Dominican Republic)

Hello Everyone! My name is Anita and I am brand new to InterNations. ?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am looking for any information you may have regarding moving to the Dominican Republic. It has been a goal of mine for quite some time to live abroad ...even if just for a year. My goal is to me moved in by my birtheday, Which is in April.
I will not require employment in the DR seeing as I am an airline employee and will commute back to the United States to work as needed. My Spanish is weak but I am eager to learn. I am interested in the Santo Domingo area because of how accessible it is to the airport as well as it being the location of the US Embassy.

I am looking for any and all information regarding getting stared my transition. Good neighborhoods to live, how to rent an apartment/condo etc.). As well as connecting with expats that live in the area that wouldn't mind making room in their close circle for one more. ?? Please any and all information is appreciated.
