Moving to Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic)

Hola! I'm moving to the capitol at the end of October. I'm looking to meet up with other expats. What's most important to me now is housing and work opportunites.
Although, I travel to this country quite often, I know very little about this city but I understand that building a network is highly beneficial.
I have so many questions and would appreciate any advise. I'm looking forward to the responses.
