Moving to the DR (Dominican Republic)

I am originally from Trinidad, currently living in Houston. I am single, 54 and planning on moving back to the islands. I would prefer to live near the ocean. The last time I was in the DR was about 15 years ago. I have told that the North Coast is preferable - around Cabarete. Can anyone provide any insight or recommended locations to start looking? I would be looking for a small condo.
