Information about East Germany (Saxony-Germany)? (Dresden)

I have a potential job offer in Germany and it's in the area of Stollberg which is somewhere in Saxony Germany. I haven't been able to find much information on the internet about these areas, so I was wondering if anyone would have some information in terms of ; Living? Safety? Working environment? How are the local German people with foreigners ? I've heard some mixed reviews about those areas so kind of confused. Any information is highly appreciated!
