Arriving in 3 weeks... (Dubai)

Hi all... my flight date is fast approaching, and I shall be arriving in Dubai on 6 August with just a suitcase and laptop to my name! A very liberating feeling selling all my stuff and starting afresh in a new country.

I'll be staying in the Marina while I hunt for a flatshare in the locality, so if anyone has any tips/recommendations on particular towers to go for/avoid etc I'd be very grateful to hear from you. I'm keeping a close eye on Dubizzle.

I don't have any family or friends here in Dubai so am looking forward to meeting lots of new people. I'm assuming things will be a bit quiet on the social front during Ramadan though?
