Cars and Apartments (Dubai)

I have just been offered a 6 month consutlancy contract in Dubai - the offer seems a bit low and I wondered what peoples thoughts were re cost of living etc
The package is GBP35,000 for the 6 months, a fully furnished apartment with 2 or 3 bedrooms, most likely 3 in and around Burj Dubai in Old Town but possibly by the Marina. The latter is apparently about a 40 minute drive from the office. The former I am told is still a bit of a building site but only Protected content away from the office depending on traffic.
Mention was made that I will need to rent a car - is this reasonable? Most countries I have ever been to before car rentals are very expensive but I dont want to buy one for just 6 months!
No mention of utilities but I suspect they will be covered but need to ask the question - if not are they expensive? What about food bills?
So the question is am I being taken for a ride or does this all seem reasonable?!??!
