Enough with the twinkles already!!! (Dubai)

What exactly is the point of a “twinkle” or a “poke” anyway?
Surely if you want to grab someone’s attention, saying something smart or funny or RELEVANT would be a better approach?

Please stop with the twinkles… I receive what feels like THOUSANDS of twinkles a day and it is doing my head in!

I do not understand the point of this application and I have developed the same reaction to a “twinkle” as I do to someone who treads on my foot on the subway. (frustration and annoyance)
If you have something to say to me, please just say it!
