Hotel @ Dubai

Hi all, I have to go visit Dubai for a few days since April 29th to May 3rd. I have no idea where to book an hotel, so I just ask the local communities some ideas and advices, where to stay, what to do what to NOT do?
Is there anyone available for a drink, a trip...so all the common question someone could have in mind before spending a couple of day aimless (I like this idea !!).
