As part of DXB Cucumber Day on May 17, you’ll be able to buy a drink in 35 bars and restaurants in Dubai by simply handing over a cucumber to a member of the staff.

Sounds crazy, we know, but it’s true. According to the official Facebook page they will "recognise the true value of the cucumber by transforming the humble green fruit into exchangeable monetary units in celebration of DXB Cucumber Day."

The offer extends to selected outlets in the city. It's one cucumber per person, so there's no need to fill your handbag (unless you're planning on a bar crawl). The initiative is by a British drinks brand, that will offer a specially mixed beverage.
