Planning to move to Dubai - Is it a good idea?

Hi all,
Me and my husband are planning to move from Portugal to Dubai soon, early this year. We are currently applying for some jobs and having some interviews schedule by Skype. However, my expertise field is commission based only (real estate) where companies will organise the visa for me but I am quite worried with how much do we need to move to Dubai to secure ourselves without basic salary? How much do you roughly spend in a month? Did you find a property where you can pay with several cheque or the entire year? what are the best areas to live/cost of living and commute wise? where are the best enterprise area? where are the best websites to search for jobs/work?
I compare the living cost always with London because was the last city where i lived but is always good to know your sincere opinion.
