Stop over in Dubai

Good morning to all,

My wife ( Italian ) and myself ( Belgian ) are expats in Singapore and are planning our Home Leave. We are flying from Singapore to Belgium and we are contemplating the idea to calculate a stopover in Dubai and to visit a little bit. However, the stopover will probably be limited to a couple of hours. In and out ... :)

What would be the things to do ? How much time to do you actually need to make this a little bit of an experience ? Are there things we need to take into account ( customs, transport, ... )

If anyone could shed some light on this or help us plan better, it would be appreciated. Hoping to hear from you soon,
