FEEDER OPERATIONS MANAGER
Candidate must have minimum 5-years’ experience in feeder vessel operations. Candidates without such experience will not be considered.
Reporting to Managing Director, this position is responsible for the daily vessel operations and is required to provide prompt operational support through monitoring in the company’s fleet of owned and time chartered vessels. You will ensure Charter Party (C/P) terms and company policies are closely complied and adhered to.
This position will require you to work closely with the Commercial Team to gather information and assist them in post fixture work, voyage calculation, demurrage calculation, bunker control and management. You will liaise with Vessel Masters and agents to ensure documentation is done properly and meets any compliance requirements.
Outline of job functions are, but not limited to the following:
•Assist Commercial group with voyage planning decisions by gathering information related to planned cargo/voyages.
•Responsible for daily operations of the fleet and be able to maximize profits through managing the end-to-end operations of assigned voyages and any time chartered vessels efficiently and effectively
•Setup, maintain and manage all department/fleet operational records and files
•Process and ensure compliance with Charter Party (C/P) requirements and company procedures as well as all relevant operational information between vessels, brokers, charterers and agents.
•Proactively plan and manage to optimize voyages in terms of route planning, weather routing, cargo stowage planning, bunker planning and appointment of port agents.
•Provide voyage an time charter instructions to Masters and convey expectations with follow up to monitoring compliance
•Negotiate claims and respond promptly and effectively and take a proactive approach in solving problems
•Assist the Commercial team concerning any vessel information requirements, questionnaires, certification and scheduling as part of all pre and post fixture support.
•Analyse vessel voyage performance to highlight any underperformance, downtime or any other operational issues in preparation for weekly team meetings
•Safely and economically operate vessel(s) to maintain the vessel voyages on schedule and budget
•Arrange all routine invoicing and funding for voyage costs, including agency appointments, tugs, no compulsory pilotage and surveyors attendance
•Work with Technical, Vessel and Gear groups to insure proper gear is on board the vessel for load/discharge operations
•Strong Organization skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Able to analyse detailed information and be resourceful
•Able to manage tight deadlines and ensure good follow-up and follow through
•Minimum 5-years’ experience in Feeder operations.
