How to encourage landlord to accept a pet? (Dublin)

It seems that finding "pet friendly" accommodations in Dublin can be quite difficult. As many properties come furnished, I can understand the concern that landlords have towards pets (damage to furniture, barking, etc).

I am moving with a small dog, and wondering if anyone has recommendations for helping to persuade landlords to accept the pet? The dog is not allowed on furniture, does not bark, is very well trained, and we clean up after her.

One individual has recommended showing up to property viewings and negotiate with the landlord (without mentioning the pet), and then informing at the last minute about the pet (including the above positives that I stated about the pet).

Would love to hear other people's experiences and tips.
