Relocation to Ireland from South Africa (Dublin)

We are two over 60's, (fit, healthy and energetic) who want to relocate to Dublin. We want to work, not at our professions, but something to pay enough to live on, and keep our minds active. We don't know anyone in Dublin, nor do we know anything about Dublin nor Ireland except that it looks like a beautiful, friendly and safe country. Do you have any suggestions as where to start gathering relevant information and contacts? A scary step....
