Live/Work in Monchengladbach? (Duesseldorf)

Hi,

I'm Paul, a 39 year old IT contractor from London England. I have been offered a 7 month contract with a bank in Monchengladbach. I don't know much about the city other than the football club and was wondering if anyone can enlighten me with the lowdown on the city (wikipedia doesn't offer too much!).

Is it a nice (cheap) place to live/work? Is it affordable to rent or flatshare (WG)? Would i be better off in Dusseldorf and commuting?

Can anyone help?
