School and where to live in Dusseldorf (Duesseldorf)

We've just moved to Dusseldorf from Sydney. We Have a son who is 4 years old and we're about to enrol him at St George. We are thinking about renting a house around Kaiserwerth and Wittlaer. Are these neighbourhood good location for family? Is there any places that I should avoid around this are? And any feedback in relation to the school?
