To move to SA...Not to move to SA (Durban)

hello folks,
greetings from miserable (weather-wise) Manchester UK. I have a dilemma and need advice. I am African american and my great grandfather is originally from SA. I spent the whole Protected content SA and loved it as it felt like i had finally returned home (even though i got mugged). When i got to the UK, my wife and I began our 7 year plan of moving to SA/Durban. Now that we closer to moving, I have been advised to move elsewhere (Canada/Australia) as the situation in SA is toxic, the economy is getting worse and so is the political climate. I wont discuss safety because I know what we getting into regarding that. I need someone to convince me that SA/Durban is still the right move regardless of political and social climate...
