Car Insurance in UK for a US Driver? (Edinburgh)

Hi all - I'm stuck in a dilemma. I "technically" have just moved to Edinburgh from the States in the last couple months, but cannot get a quote anywhere for car insurance. I quote technically because I've been here on and off in large chunks sense Protected content , but apparently that doesn't count.

I haven't gotten my UK drivers license yet but am trying to asap. I purchased a car but cannot find anyone to insure me while I get my UK lincense!

Does anyone have experience with this and/or know a company that will cover me?
