Scotland with a dog (Edinburgh)

Hello all there,
I'm thinking about to move to Scotland next year but have a very important question.
We have a nice old lady dog and we will take her with us.
It is difficult to rent a flat in a city with a dog? Are dogs allowed in pubs or restaurants?
