Global Visions Festival 2014 (Edmonton)

Edmonton is Canada's Festival City, and festival season kicks off in earnest this Thursday!

Global Visions ( Protected content ) is Canada’s longest running documentary film festival. Starting Thursday, Western Canada's premiere doc-fest will present the hottest, most talked-about new documentaries from home and abroad.

Thursday's opening gala features the very topical film ABOVE ALL ELSE. From director John Feige and Executive Producers Daryl Hannah and Julia Butterfly Hill, ABOVE ALL ELSE is a brilliant look at the Keystone XL Pipeline, told from a perspective and point of view many Albertans may not have considered. ABOVE ALL ELSE is an intimate portrait of a group of landowners and activists in East Texas who tried to stop construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, risking financial ruin, their personal safety, and the security of their families.

Two of the inspiring & passionate activists featured in the film, JULIA TRIGG CRAWFORD and RON SEIFERT, will be IN ATTENDANCE for this Exclusive Alberta Premiere screening.

As well, one of Edmonton's finese musicians, Jay Sparrow, will be performing an exclusive pre-show acoustic set.
