InterNations Turns 10 @ The Chairman Jazz Bar!
Come celebrate InterNations 10th birthday at The Chairman, Durban"s (many would say South Africa's) top jazz bar. Great food. Fabulous late night "live jazz" band. Gorgeous decor. Amazing DJ to get you dancing. If you haven't yet been to this iconic venue in the happening Point Waterfront development area, now is the time.
InterNations members will meet at The Chairman between 9:30pm and 10pm. We will have a designated gathering spot inside. The entrance fee is R150. This is offset against what you order to drink and eat (so the first R150 of your orders is covered by what you pay at the door). The live music kicks off at 11pm and runs until midnight (which is why we're setting this up as a late night event). Update: * Top international Swedish jazz pianist and composer Jan Lundgren will play the guest slot. He will be accompanied by acclaimed South African upright bassist Romy Brauteseth and on drums, Peter Auret.
If anyone wants to go early, The Chairman opens at 7pm and the bar and kitchen — fab pizzas and platters — is open from 7pm. After the live music stops around midnight, the DJ keeps things going till after 2pm. Come along. It's fabulous. I can vouch that it is quite OK to come solo if you don't have a partner!
Driving note: Head down Mahatma Gandhi (old Point Road) towards the docks and Wodka restaurant. You will reach a spot where the road is blocked with a Road Closed sign. Ignore the sign. Drive in to that part of the road and park. There are car guards. Safe parking. Safe area. The Chairman is right there.
There is safe street parking outside plus a car guard.
