December has come and with it, you get to see and enjoy some of the Mexican traditions that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.
While other countries have Winter Markets, or like the downunder has Xmas summer bbq's, in Mexico we have Posadas and Pastorelas!!

Important: You have to prepay for this event - more instructions to follow.
Ticket to attend this event: 120 MXN
Ticket includes:
- Access to the play: Pastorela.
- A mug of ponche (Mexican hot punch), you can keep the mug!
- A chance to hit the piñata!
- All the candies you can grab from the piñata!

The Pastorela is presented by a local theater company, and like any good Poblano dish, has more seasonings so that it tastes better; it culminates in a boast of many of the customs, foods and ways of being typical of the Poblanos, it's a good opportunity to embrace the culture of your host town.

What is a Posada?? Well, Posada is a typical festivity that is celebrated from 16 to 24 December, in which people sing and ask for posada (lodging - this is the closest translation to it), they dance and piñatas are broken.
Posadas are a series of festivities that take place in Mexico since colonial times. Its origin is from a religious nature, it represents the pilgrimage of Joseph and Mary on their way to Bethlehem; but since the late eighteenth century, they are part of the popular culture and are organized by families or neighborhoods.

The Pastorela is a theatrical representation of the vicissitudes that the shepherds face in order to get to adore Child Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem. On the way they have to fight against the demons who, representing the seven deadly sins, put all kinds of traps, obstacles and temptations to make them desist. The Archangel Michael is fighting an intense battle with Satan and, finally, triumphs over him.

This is a great opportunity for you to come and get a taste of this special winter Mexican tradition!!
Since most of our past events have been free of charge and everyone pays their own way, this time it is required to reserve our attendance at the venue by buying the ticket to the play.
Let me know if you want to buy the ticket yourself or you want me to do it for you.

The guest list will be closed on Thursday 20 Dec.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all again!
