Internations Durban March Official Event @ BAT Centre
Appropriate for InterNations, Sandile was previously Chef for the US Consul General in Durban. In this capacity he has cooked for royalty, diplomats, celebrities and many others.
This is important! If you're not familiar with the place, keep reading for directions to the BAT Centre and more on Sandile.
We will meet at Cafe'Chidos from 6pm on Thursday March 14. If you don't know the place (or if you do) you're in for a treat. It's a harbour location. Check the pictures and you'll see how close the ships are. It goes without saying that Sandile cooks fabulous food. He will add "specials" for InterNations. There is a full bar. The view from restaurant and the bar and the terrace outside is stunning.
To get there, don't reply on your GPS. It will take you the wrong way. NB: To get the BAT Centre (and safe parking under the watchful eye of the harbour police), head for the entrance to the Point Yacht Club (and Royal Natal Yacht Club) off Margaret Mcandi Road (formerly the Esplanade). Instead of turning right to Wilson's Wharf after you cross the railway lines, turn left. Drive past the Point Yacht Club. Keep driving along the narrow road next to the water till you get to the harbour police hut. Good parking (a large lot) is right there. If you tell them you're going to BAT Centre, they will help you.
From there you walk to the BAT Centre (short distance). Again, they will point it out. Easy, I promise! Cafe'Chidos is upstairs next to the bar. We'll be waiting with the InterNations sign to welcome you.
As always, all food and drinks for your own account. This will be an extra-good evening at one of Durban's best locations. If you want to read more about Chef Sandile, Google his name plus "Cuisine Noir" and read my interview with him. Or just come along and meet him!
