The place where the past&the present intertwines, a place that preserves countless stories, memories&recollections, both of epochs and of events, travels, but above all, people. Hidden behind a large black iron gate in one of the pre-war residential buildings, there is a cafe that is the true definition of the phrase "a place with a soul". Many basements in Serbian cities in the spring of 1999 served as joint shelters for residents during the NATO bombing, but one in downtown Belgrade is today's gathering center for a kind of globetrotter.During the gloomy days and without the possibility to travel, set designer Mirko Stanković,together with his brother and friends, with a lot of imagination, turned this place into the Yugoslav Association of World Travelers. The interior began to be created by bringing some family furniture that is more than 100 yo.They were among the first to install sewing machines instead of tables. In the beginning,a quiet haven for a few friends, only "on recommendation",and a refuge for artists who liked to stop by and sit there in peace, the club served as a hiding place from the police during demonstrations against the then ruling regime in 2000.Over time, whoever traveled somewhere would always bring souvenirs.Everyone who participated in the birth of this unusual and incredibly inspiring place, weaved a part of themselves into it,and that tradition continued in the following years. In addition, guests bring experiences and skills acquired on other meridians.
