Desperately need cable to connect my printer (Frankfurt)

I bought a used EPSON printer today but it did not came with a cable that you connect to printer and PC in order to install the printer driver.

I contacted the person who is leaving Japan next week and they cannot remember if the cable was in the box to begin with and used the cable from their old printer which worked.

Apparently, I was told that these cable are universal and it would work on any printers. It is also sold at Saturn and Media Markt etc. Is this correct or was I hosed?

If anyone has an old printer and would not mind giving me the cable that connects PC and printer since you are planning to get rid of the printer anyways, please let me know.
