Financial Success and Cultural Flair in the City

Over 100 skyscrapers not only make for a distinctive skyline in Frankfurt, but also give rise to optimism in regard to employment opportunities for expats working in the business industry in particular. With one of the largest stock exchanges in the world, finance, banking, and insurance provide career options for expats at the many national or foreign banks. The city also attracts expats from all over the world thanks to one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and numerous jobs available throughout. Frankfurt has repeatedly ranked in the top 20 for best quality of life and also best cities for living and of course nominated as one of the richest European cities by GDP per capita for 2014. With excellent transport links such as the famous Autobahn system and great rail connections as well as easy access to other European capitals, moving to Frankfurt is an easy choice for those involved with international business. After all, Frankfurt's airport is the third busiest in Europe and a central aviation hub. Expats should be aware that the process of finding accommodations in Frankfurt can be expensive and sometimes very time consuming. While there is enough available housing, you have to be quick and well prepared with all of the documentation in order to secure your new home. Outside of work and apartments, Frankfurt offers to you and your family the option of free public schooling in addition to many international schools, which provide expat children with excellent standard of education. Moreover, the city is full with well-maintained parks and playgrounds where parents can spend some quality time with their kids. This multicultural city also provides the beautiful setting of the river Main for cyclists, runners and picnic lovers, as well as festivals throughout the year. Away from the hustle and bustle of the business district, there's plenty of culture to enjoy, including the strikingly beautiful Palmengarten, the largest botanical garden in Germany, the Frankfurt Opera House, regularly voted to be the best in Europe, and Goethe House, former residence of Frankfurt's literary son, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Plenty of museums will also keep you busy, including the extensive collection of Dinosaur fossils at Naturmuseum Senckenberg, the Historical Museum, and the art exhibitions at the distinctive Museum for Modern Art. Germany has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters that dominate the seasons. Expats coming from outside of Europe will enjoy Frankfurt, especially during the winter, when the city opens the many Christmas markets and the whole center is adorned with Christmas decorations. Moreover, Frankfurt is home to one of the richest and most diverse culinary scenes in the entire world where expats will have the opportunity to taste the famous Frankfurter Wuerstchen (sausages) and the extraordinary Frankfurter ring cake.
