Savings accounts: best bank options in Freiburg?

I want to start a savings account in Freiburg. I have a (0% interest) Girokonto in a local bank, but would like to set aside some money on a monthly basis - and most importantly- start to gain interest on it.

Any recommendations for the best saving account options available in town?
Best deals? Best institutions to address? Any good English-speaking contacts?
