News Update: American Citizens Abroad's e-newsletter promotes "The Voice of Americans Abroad", concentrating on news (ACA-generated and from a myriad of other sources) relevant to overseas Americans in their capacity as such, particularly with regard to their collective relationship with the US Government. The ten issues per year are circulated to an initial e-mailing list of over three thousand addresses. Each issue is excerpted on the ACA website (currently at more than seven thousand hits per month), and available in full as a .pdf document on the site ( Protected content ).
Position: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the production of ten issues per year, to be delivered in semi-formatted state to the webmaster. Any potentially relevant materials are copied to the Editor. ACA activities must be covered; there is considerable freedom of choice regarding other materials. Subjects must be researched: succinct articles written or excerpted, punchy and comprehensible to laypersons; and hyperlinks added to sources of further information on each subject. Each News Update must receive ACA approval prior to publication.
ACA is non-partisan, and does not take stances on foreign policy or on other issues not directly related to the status of overseas American citizens.
Time required: approximately two full days per month
Remuneration: This is a volunteer position. It is an excellent opportunity to hone professional-level editing skills and to gain a subject area of expertise, while making an essential contribution to a worthy cause.
Location: Geneva, Switzerland, but can be located outside if the right person
