Geneva taxation (if residing in France)

Hi,

I am moving to work in Geneva, but I am considering living nearby in France (I have EU citizenship).

I have read that the canton of Geneva, unique in all of CH, has a special agreement with France whereby your income is only subject to tax 'at source' (in Geneva). So basically, you pay *only* Swiss income taxes (but are still obligated to report your income to the French gov't).

Does anyone know if this is indeed the case? Does it vary depending on circumstance? Do you have to make tax equalization payments to France to account for the different tax rates?

I'm waiting to get an appointment with some tax advisors, so in the meantime I was just seeing if I could "crowdsource" an answer! And I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in this ...

Best,

Steve
