Traffic from Geneva Airport

Hi all, this is the first time I have used a forum and I have decided to do so because I would like some help please.
Every time I drive out of Geneva airport in the direction of Evian, I hope that the traffic will be good. However, driving down Chantepoulet street always takes ages and when there, I wish that I had asked someone for details on a shortcut. I have tried the motorway but that takes me too far out in the direction of Annemasse. Does anyone know of any good shortcuts through Geneva? I need to get to Bernex in France.
Last March, it took me one and a half hours just to reach the lake. I have a Swiss motorway pass for this year.
